One window. Two ways to make it yours.

01 / Your window

Start with the same measurements

Measure the installed rod or track, excluding decorative ends. Use the supplier's measuring method for returns or centre overlap; those are not added automatically.

2× is an editable example, not a universal recommendation. Choose fullness for your fabric and header. Use flat, ungathered width; fixed-pleat or wave products may require a different calculation.

Compare drops from the same reference point. A listing may include fabric above an eyelet or hook; a maker's order measurement may not. Confirm the product's header and drop convention first.

02 / Buy ready-made

Find the pack count

Enter one finished panel's flat width, not the pair's combined width or its gathered coverage.

03 / Sew your own

Plan fabric by the drop

Whole fabric-width drops are joined vertically into each side. Lining, trims and header tape need separate plans.

Usable width excludes both selvedges. Measure the fabric you can actually cut.

Enter total fabric consumed by each hem, including both turns of a double fold. Each seam consumes two allowances, one from each joined edge.

Use 0 for plain fabric. Straight vertical repeats only: each drop rounds up independently to a whole repeat, plus one full repeat is reserved at the roll start for initial alignment. No half-drop or horizontal matching.

Extra is your reserve for shrinkage, defects or mistakes. It adds purchasing length, not width or cutting dimensions; adjust usable width and drop allowances after checking fabric care.

What this plan includes, and what to check

Measure before you commit

  • Use one measuring datum for both drops. Verify whether listed width is per panel, per pair, ungathered or already pleated.
  • Set returns, overlap and clearance using your chosen supplier's instructions. They are not automatically added.
  • Check fullness and header compatibility with the maker. More fabric does not guarantee that a specific header or track will work.

Fabric assumptions

  • Whole usable widths, identical straight drops and equal left/right sides. No half-width sharing, railroaded fabric, borders, directional layouts, half-drop or horizontal pattern matching.
  • Full-width sewn fullness is before optional trimming. The cut list leaves repeat excess available; finished drop is your target after trimming and hemming.
  • No lining, trims, header hardware, stock increment or fabric-price calculation. Round the final buy length up to the supplier's selling increment.

Units convert actual lengths: 1 inch = 2.54 cm; 1 yard = 91.44 cm. Converted inputs display up to six decimals, while the original length is retained until you edit that field.

A free material-planning estimate, not a fitting specification. Rod, track, motor, bracket and wall-load capacity are not assessed. Confirm safe hardware and installation with the manufacturer or a qualified installer. The planner makes no network requests and does not save your entries; the host website may use its own analytics.
