Room Layout Planner

Room to Breathe / The toolkit / 02

A little planning.
A room that works.

Try your furniture in a measured, top-down room plan. See overlapping pieces and keep a visible route in mind before you move anything heavy.

Measurements
01 / Your room

Use the clear inside dimensions of a rectangular room. Include skirting boards and any fixed projections in your measurements.

02 / Furniture

Example sizes are starting points. Measure your actual pieces, including handles and overhangs.

03 / Doorway & route

For top/bottom walls, measure the start from the left. For side walls, measure from the top. The approach is a simple reserved rectangle; it does not model a swinging door.

    Keep a few possibilities.

Every save makes a new named copy. Existing layouts stay unchanged. Up to 30 saved layouts and 30 recoverable deleted layouts fit in this browser.

Opening a layout replaces only your current draft; Undo brings it back. Save or download a backup before leaving this page. Use one tab at a time when saving.

    Recently deleted (0)

Deleted layouts stay here until this browser’s site data is cleared. There is no permanent-delete button.

    Compare an alternative.

Save a layout to compare another arrangement.

Differences are current draft minus saved alternative. A lower conflict count is not a safety or accessibility assessment.

    Take your plan with you.

JSON only, up to 512 KB. Import is validated before saving, adds new copies and never replaces existing layouts. Old single-plan JSON is supported. Images are not editable backups.

Saved layouts stay on this browser and device; they do not sync. Private browsing, blocked storage or cleared site data can remove them. Download a JSON backup for safekeeping. JSON may include the room and furniture names you enter.

This is a two-dimensional planning aid, not an access or safety assessment. It does not check door swings, windows, radiators, furniture stability, drawer opening, turning space, carrying routes, or local building and accessibility requirements. Verify the real room before buying or moving furniture.

Measure once. Try a few ways.

    1. Measure the clear room width and depth.
    2. Add each furniture footprint and its distance from the top and left walls.
    3. Mark your doorway and a route you want to keep open.
    4. Check every flagged area in the real room before moving anything.

    Small changes, useful clues.

Try turning a table or swapping a wide cabinet for a shallower footprint. A plan can show that rectangles fit, but only a real-world check tells you whether the room feels comfortable and works for the people using it.
